Does Everybody Need to Be Bronzed?
I've seen two magazine articles in the last few weeks criticizing Kirsten Dunst's body. One implied that she was too skinny; the other, too pale. But Dunst is one of the few actresses defying the faux, spray-on tan trend. Her skin is beautifully, delicately, naturally pale, and she embraces it.She doesn't give in to the pressure to be totally tanned. I respect that. Fair is as beautiful as golden brown, and certainly much healthier (if the tan comes from the sun). I think more actresses, and women in general, need to defy the current obsession with orange skin and celebrate their alabaster complexions. They should take cover under large, floppy hats, walk on the shady side of the street, and audition for period films where a pristine pale complexion is an asset. And most of all - they should celebrate being uniquely fair in a sea of self-tanned starlets. Different can be beautiful.

I agree!! I have black hair and have a fair creamy complexion but with a healthy glow. This isnt why I agree..I actually tan very easily and never burn if I lay out in the sun or go to a tanning booth but since Melanoma runs in my family & I read about all the negative effects of sun bathing I am through!! I am not going to ignore the sun or hide because you should get somme sun at least 15 minutes a day to get vitamin D and its healthy for you, but no longer will I be tanning for hours anymore!! In the summer tanned girls may look at me weird as I walk around with my creamy skin thinking I never go outside haha but in 20 years I will be the one looking like im 30 when Im 50. Sun causes the breaking down of collageen & elastin peptides and that equals wrinkles, stretchmarks, and saggy skin - NO THANKS!! Good blog indeed, it changed my mind about getting a sunless tanner.. I think Ill stay creamy this summer bc when Im walking down the street with a ton of tanned people I stick out better and yes different is so much more interesting then conforming!! =]
