Babies and Bikini Waxes

Since I became a mom, I've scaled way back on salon visits. I no longer have the time for manicures, pedicures, and massages. I've pared it down to the minimum: monthly bikini waxes and hair color appointments (to cover gray) every two months. For my last bikini wax, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to bring Lola along. Eva was napping and stayed behind, but Lola and I were planning a trip to the grocery store and a quick stop at the spa for the waxing. I explained to her that we were going to see Mommy's friend at the salon. Lola sat patiently in the chair, while my friend and esthetician, Kristen, did her thing, shielding my body from Lola's eyes. When she asked what Kristen was doing, I hesitated, but Kristen jumped right in: "I'm taking the hair off mommy's legs."
"Yes, so they can be soft like Lola's," I added.
But you can't pull anything over on a 2 year old. Later, she said: "Mommy, doctor take hair off your bottom? Like doctor fix my bottom?" (This was in reference to a recent visit to the pediatrician). How did she know that it wasn't my legs that were being waxed?
Fortunately, bikini waxes are old hat for me, and there was no real pain involved, so she didn't witness me being hurt. But still - I think I should have left her behind. I hope I haven't scarred her for life, and I hope she doesn't go around telling everyone that the doctor "take hair off Mommy's bottom."
